At Antalis, we prioritize certified papers, endorsed by internationally acclaimed labels and certificates such as FSC®, PEFC®, European Eco label, Blue Angel and other for quality and environmental sustainability.
We carefully select products with strong environmental credentials and use Antalis Green Star scoring system to classify them. Today 54% of our paper products score three, four or five star rating, being either recycled, FSC® or PEFC® certified and manufactured in the mills awarded with the European Eco Label and certified according to the ISO 14001 standards.
Here are some more details to explain these certificates and their criteria.
FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) and PEFC® (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) are two leading organisations focused on promoting sustainable forestry worldwide. Both organisations advocate responsible management of forests at international and national levels, focusing on social, economic and ecologic aspects. To grant their labels, both organisations assess forest and forest based products against their respective standards, following strict and elaborated processes. We are continuously growing the share of our certified paper products as part of our environmental engagement and as a support to our customers in making environmentally conscious choices.
A German environmental label Blue Angel is the oldest environmental certification, which guarantees that a product meets high standards when it comes to its environmental, health and performance characteristics. The product is evaluated across its lifecycle and is based on the criteria of using 100% recycled fibres without any chemicals or whitening solvents. We propose our customers a portfolio of 100% recycled papers, Blue Angel certified, to meet the most demanding environmental requirements.
European Eco Label, a voluntary scheme established by European Union, awards the products and services that meet rigorous environmental standards. A well-standardised certification process considers several factors such as energy efficiency, waste reduction and product environmental impact through its lifecycle in order to grant the label. It helps customers to identify and select eco-responsible products and do more sustainable choices. We supply paper products from EU Eco Label certified mills, meeting ISO 14000 series of standards for environmental management.
The Cradle to Cradle® product certification is a global standard, which rigorously evaluates products for their material health, water stewardship, renewable energy use, product reuse and social fairness. Achieving this certification means committing to circular economy principles, sustainable product design and responsible source management. We continue to enlarge our range, focusing on the circular approach with a current offer of 25 paper products, Cradle to Cradle® product certified.
