DuPont™ Tyvek® is a unique nonwoven material, made of 100% high density polyethylene fibres randomly laid and compressed to form a remarkably tough printing substrate that is ideal for applications where durability is of prime importance. Tyvek® combines the performance of paper, film and fabric and thus makes it ideal for a wide range of applications.
Tyvek® is incredibly light and flexible, with a remarkable strength-to-weight ratio.
Tyvek® is made to perform in harsh, rugged and extreme conditions. Water, chemicals, heat, cold, rough handling, long-term outdoor use? No problem! Tyvek® is tear, puncture, water, and UV resistant.
Tyvek® repels water, keeping your message perfectly intact. Tyvek® is not affected by most acids, bases and salts. It has excellent rot and mildew resistance and resists soiling and staining.
Tyvek® can be repeatedly folded, can also be glued, laminated, sewn, stapled and fixed.
Tyvek® is 100% recyclable, making it an attractive solution for environmentally-conscious decision makers.
Depending on the bonding process, Tyvek® is paper-like (hard structure) or textile-like (soft structure). Both hard structure and soft structure are easily printable, sewable and glueable; however, hard structure and soft structure look, feel and perform differently.
The Antalis stock range is focused on the "Type 10" hard structures, which are paper-like, smooth and stiff. Compared with soft structure, they have lower coefficients of friction, are stronger and smoother. They can also hold water and can maintain a three-dimensional shape when folded or sewn. Core range includes 1057D, 1073D, 1082D,1085D which are 55, 75, 105 and 108 gsm respectively. The D suffix means they are Corona and Anti-stat treated, making ink receptivity and printing press performance straight forward.
If direct food contact certification is required, Antalis can provide "B styles" including 1025B (42.5g), 1059G (65g) and 1073B (75g).
Soft structures (Type 14) are more fabric-like and drapeable. These are available upon request and include 1442R (43g) and1473R (73g).

Tyvek® is printable using traditional techniques including Offset, Offset UV, Flexo and screen. Related to digital printing, it is also suitable for HP Indigo, HP Latex, UV Inkjet, LED Inkjet and Thermal Transfer. Antalis can also offer specially coated versions to suit aqueous and eco solvent wide format inkjet.
