If your company is like most companies today, you must have an interest in improving your sustainability credentials. You may be trying to improve your company's practices or the performance of your supply chain.

If your company is like most companies today, you must have an interest in improving your sustainability credentials. You may be trying to improve your company's practices or the performance of your supply chain.

ESG criteria (Environment, Social, Governance) have become an essential factor in getting ahead of your market. However, it is challenging to assess the sustainability practices of a supply chain across hundreds of industries and places.

Indeed, each region has its regulations and languages. Each industry has its labels and certifications. Moreover, you face a growing list of standards and customers with similar concerns. They each have their questionnaire, and you can't measure your performance or compare it with your peers. That's where EcoVadis comes in.

What is EcoVadis and how does it work?

EcoVadis helps companies assess the non-financial global performance of organisations. To do so, EcoVadis provides a collaborative web-based rating platform that measures the company’s sustainability through 21 criteria within 4 themes.

Environment

  • Energy Consumption & GHGs
  • Water
  • Biodiversity
  • Local & Accidental Pollution
  • Materials, Chemicals & Waste
  • Product Use
  • Product End-of-Life
  • Customer Health & Safety
  • Environmental Services & Advocacy

Ethics

  • Corruption
  • Anti-Competitive Practices
  • Information Management Responsibility

Labor & Human Rights

  • Employee Health & Safety
  • Working Conditions
  • Social dialogue
  • Career Management & Training
  • Child Labour, Forced Labour and Human Trafficking
  • Diversity, Discrimination & Harassment
  • External Stakeholder Human Rights

Sustainable Procurement

  • Supplier Environmental Practices
  • Supplier Social Practices

The EcoVadis rating methodology measures the quality of your company’s sustainability management system through 3 management pillars:

  • Policies (25% of the scoring): what your company claims,
  • Actions (40% of the scoring): what your company does,
  • Results (35% of the scoring): what the outcomes are,

After spending over a decade refining this assessment model, EcoVadis has become a globally recognized CSR rating organisation. EcoVadis has assessed over 150,000 companies of all sizes and industries to help them benchmark and drive improvements.

Unlike other assessment platforms, EcoVadis adapts its criteria to your company size, industry, and country of operation. In other words, only some criteria among the 21 will be assessed for your company. This guarantees a fair and relevant assessment.

EcoVadis sends you an online questionnaire customized to your company. The assessment includes your company's documentation and third-party inputs like labels and certifications.

You can share this scorecard everywhere and use the benchmarks to improve your EcoVadis score and sustainability performance. This customised approach enables your company to engage in a continuous improvement process.

A catalyst for ESG excellence

EcoVadis serves as a powerful driver of ESG performance. Its assessment process helps you pinpoint strengths and areas for improvement, offering a clear roadmap to advance your ESG strategy. This way, you can:

  • Optimise ESG risk management
  • Improve operational efficiency
  • Reduce long-term costs
  • Drive innovation within your company

Many large companies now demand this certification from their suppliers. By obtaining it, you open up new business opportunities and strengthen your market position.

For SMEs, it’s an opportunity to stand out from larger competitors. EcoVadis also offers rates tailored to smaller structures, making certification accessible to all companies.

The Antalis Group has been awarded a gold medal by EcoVadis  in 2024.

A competitive advantage for your brand image

By performing annual EcoVadis assessments, you send a strong signal to your consumers, investors, future employees, and business partners. It shows that your company is committed to sustainable development, beyond claims.

You can use the EcoVadis label in your marketing and communication strategy, positioning your business as an innovative and responsible player in its market.

Why you should adopt an ESG strategy now

One of the 4 EcoVadis assessed themes is sustainable procurement. Among the multiple benefits of implementing sustainable procurement, you:

  • Satisfy customs when they ask for a responsible supply chain

  • Increase brand reputation and valuation
  • Lower costs by reducing energy consumption for example
