The customer’s challenge

A listed manufacturer of equipment for the construction industry based in Germany.  Palletising of the cartons and stretch wrapping is done in a packaging machine. The procedure needs to be adapted and optimised for new location. The requirements included ensuring the lowest possible energy consumption, doubling the number of units per year and to ensure adapting of the packaging line to use the smallest possible space (5 x 7.4 m).

The Antalis solution

After an automated packaging system was developed for use in a limited space: once the carton has been strapped, it is transported to a robot via a driven conveyor system. The robot has a custom-built gripper that picks up the cardboard boxes and stacks them on a pallet in a fully automatic pallet stretch wrapper with a pre-stretch system.

The pallets required for this are placed in stacks in the wrapper magazine beforehand by an internal rod pull. As soon as 9 cartons are on the pallet, the stretch wrapper starts wrapping automatically. The pallet then moves out of the wrapper fully automatically.
