The client's challenge
A manufacturer of biomedical equipment wanted to preserve the physical and aesthetic integrity of its delicate, valuable machinery during the transportation process.
More specifically, their aims were to:
- Protect against impacts and abrasions that could compromise both the functional and visual integrity of the item.
- Facilitate a swift assembly of the entire packaging system.
- Streamline the disposal process upon delivery, by minimising the variety of materials used in the packaging.
The Antalis solution
Our designers came up with a number of tailor-made solutions that allowed the team to meet all the project's requirements: Notably, robust and protective packaging that was fit for overseas shipping and easy to recycle.
The final product included:
- A pair of shells seamlessly shaped to the form of the machines.
- A made-to-measure, outer carton box (with ultramarine treatment), consisting of a bottom, lid and band that held the appliance firmly in place, once it had been stabilised within the shells.
- A pair of light, sturdy, self-adhesive cardboard feet fixed to the bottom of the packaging to enable easy palletising and handling.
- The elimination of wooden pallets, thus removing the presence of nails, staples and splinters.
