Requiring a tactile paper, with good sustainable credentials, that also offered excellent image reproduction, they chose Olin Design from Antalis for the 2021 edition of the Journal.

Olin Design inspired Wykeham Journal
The background
The Wykeham Journal’s primary purpose is to retain connections with the College’s various stakeholders, often resulting in many former pupils, or Old Wykehamists as they are known, leaving very generous donations and legacies to the College’s bursary programme and other great causes.
Following a consistent format, the Contagious team creates the design and photography as well as conducting interviews. To ensure it doesn’t become staid, each new edition of the Journal always takes on a slightly different edge to the previous year, but with enough consistency to ensure they look good as a set – they have become a collection piece for many on the mailing list and an anticipated annual read.
For the 2021 edition, the team at Contagious wanted to print the journal on a paper that would provide good image reproduction and have a nice tactile feel when held in the hand. To help find the ideal material, Contagious’ Production Manager liaised between Antalis and the printer.
The paper selection

The paper selected was from the Olin range of premium creative papers and boards, available exclusively from Antalis.
By using Olin Design we sought to create a report that presents a tactile warmth and comfort to the reader. The paper enhances the photography in a soft and subtle appearance yet fully realising the depth of tone and colour. Many recipients have said they look forward to receiving their copy every year, so our choice of paper is as important as the content. We also chose Olin Design because of its sustainability credentials and because the range is carbon offset and supported by FSC certifications, which is an important consideration to Winchester College. Using a highly sustainable, eco-responsible paper wherever possible is important to us and our clients. Olin Design does not compromise on quality to achieve these credentials, meaning we can achieve a premium and high-quality output making it our go-to choice of paper stock.

The Journal was printed lithographically using a 4-colour press.
