Thanks to its good looks, practicality and sustainability credentials, PRIPLAK® is the substrate of choice for the bottle jacket for remarkable, new wine cooler FWRAP®. The Fwrap jacket has been produced by south-Wales-based Tower Print for their client Green Chilly Company®, inventors of the Fwrap cool pack – a frozen wrap made from waste paper and card, rainwater and a touch of science!

Priplak ticks all the boxes of the brief

The Fwrap cool pack, which is patented in the UK, US and China can be frozen over and over again. After an hour in the freezer, it will keep cold for three to four hours. Combined, the Fwrap jacket and Fwrap cool pack create a practical, eco-friendly wine cooler that requires no ice, just access to a freezer. It’s ideal for hospitality as well as for the domestic user.

Green Chilly Company’s criteria for the Fwrap jacket was clear; it needed to be made from a material that was:

  • hygienic and easy to clean
  • strong and durable
  • flexible yet sturdy
  • highly sustainable
  • printable

Priplak met all of these criteria and more!

The many sustainable and practical benefits of Priplak!

Made from polypropylene, Priplak contains no halogens or chlorine and is free from plasticisers such as phthalates. At the end of its life, a product made from PRIPLAK® can be recycled many times without any significant change to the substrate’s physical properties. Thanks to its environmental credentials, PRIPLAK® has an Antalis Green Star rating of 3.

Strong, durable and flexible, Priplak is ideal for producing a variety of communication and display products, point of sale, packaging and stationery. The material is compatible with UV offset, UV inkjet and screen printing, and is corona treated on both sides for better print quality.

Business Development Manager at Tower Print, Daryn Ives, recommended Priplak to Green Chilly Company:

The client initially considered using bamboo to create the jacket, and although bamboo is highly sustainable, it doesn’t offer the same wipeability, flexibility or all-important printability as Priplak, plus, Priplak is also highly sustainable. For me, Priplak was the obvious choice and, as soon as I’d presented it to them, the client agreed.

Print and production

For the printing of the Fwrap jacket, Tower Print ran 650 x 1100mm PRIPLAK® sheets through their Canon Arizona UV flatbed before cutting out the jackets using their Canon die cutter.

The Fwrap jacket is available in Priplak Classic – Black, 800mic, and Priplak Basik – Frosted Clear, 750mic, with an initial range of printed designs available for sale on the Green Chilly Company website.

The combined sustainable and practical benefits of Priplak have been put to ingenious use by Tower Print for the Fwrap application. At Antalis we have a clear strategy for the promotion of our complete polypropylene range of products to replace other, less favourable plastics, so for us to see that the facts about the sustainable benefits of polypropylene have been understood and promoted by our friends at Tower Print is hugely encouraging!
