The client's challenge
Our customer, a pet supplies manufacturer, was wrapping pallets with an Automatic Pallet Wrap system that not only failed to provide sufficient load containment, but also under-stretched the film prior to wrapping, giving an aesthetically poor result. The process wasted both film and money.
The Antalis solution
The Antalis packaging team used a clear framework to find a solution, concluding that the client should use Lantech SL2500 Automatic Stretch Wrapper, a powerful pre-stetched, fully-automatic pallet wrapper with a production speed of up to 70 pallets per hour. It allowed our client's pallets to remain stationary during the wrapping cycle, while providing a powerful pre-stretch of up to 300%.
The process
- 1. Exploration: Antalis Packaging technologists visited the client site to assess the issues and gain an understanding of the packing and transit processes.
- 2. Proposition: Antalis recommended the use of a Lantech automatic pallet wrap. The Lantech Q300 was demonstrated at the client's site and then left with them for a week so they could try it out. Visits to other customer sites were also arranged so they could see the larger Lantech SL200 pallet wrapper in action.
- 3. Test: In addition to the client’s on-site testing (of the Lantech Q300), the Antalis Systems team also carried out a film audit and a trial to ensure that the optimum stretch film and machine combination was selected. The audit provided the client with highly accurate information about immediate and ongoing cost savings and packaging waste reduction.
- 4. Implementation: Following demonstrations and testing, the Lantech SL2500 Automatic Stretch Wrapper was installed.

In addition to helping them achieve dramatic improvements in efficiency and cost and waste reduction, we were also able to provide the client with a payment plan to help them finance the purchase of the machine. We did this by giving them the option to absorb the cost into their stretch film purchases at an agreed tonnage over a period of 36 months.
The reduction in film costs fully funded this payment route, and the client still experienced cost savings. At the end of the 36 months, the title of the system was transferred to the client.
